Caroline Dowd-Higgins has a passion is to empower women, so it’s unsurprising that her first book: This Is Not the Career I Ordered focuses on women who have experienced a career transition and reinvented themselves in the job world. Her book and blog of the same name serve as a resource and an inspiration for women who have survived a career change brought about by choice or necessity. With a social media reach of 81 million, she also writes for the Huffington Post, America Online, CNN Money, the London based online magazine – The Rouse, and More magazine, in addition to a column for The Chronicle newspaper in Indiana.

With a desire to empower and energize people to achieve their personal goals, her coaching style is engaging, high energy, and positive with a focus on unlocking the self-advocate within each of us. As a certified Marshall Goldsmith Stakeholder-Centered executive coach, she is also a sought after public speaker. For two years, she hosted the nationally acclaimed talk-radio show: Career Coach Caroline on CBS Radio. Her new podcast series, Your Working Life reaches an international audience and features interviews with thought leaders in the career and personal growth arena. Additionally, she is working on a three-part series for Public Television on career and life empowerment for women.

As the Director of Professional Enrichment for the Indiana University Alumni Association, Caroline leads an expanded alumni career enhancement and leadership development program. With over a decade of experience, she served for six years as Director of Career & Professional Development at Indiana University Maurer School of Law where she helped thousands of newly minted attorneys and seasoned alumni navigate their careers in the legal arena and beyond. She is a member of the American Counseling Association, National Speaker’s Association and the International Speaker’s Network.

As a testimony to the power of transferable skills, prior to establishing her consulting practice, Caroline worked as a professional opera singer in Europe and the United States – her first career passion. She knows first-hand the power of career transformation and she is adept at helping individuals fine-tune their communication skills to improve their professional public image and effectiveness in the workplace. Her many years singing on the professional stage has helped others hone the art of personal branding and authentic communication.
