A Grown-Up Snow Day: How Will You Spend it?
Much of the country is being pelted with winter weather as I watch the beautiful snow accumulate outside from my warm and cozy perch at home. I’m in the mood for the stillness and peace that comes with a winter snowy day.
☃️ Before digital e-learning days, kids would wish for snow days to enjoy an extra play day outside to sled, ice skate, and revel in the wintry weather.
As a grown-up, the temptation is to hustle and use a snow day to be productive, get things done, and accomplish. As a recovering workaholic, this was my go-to muscle memory and work was always something I could default to doing.
Being Still
With the first snow of 2025, I’m trying something different and will enjoy this snow day by:
- Being still and enjoying the quiet of nature and reflection.
- Playing in the snow with my dogs. You are never too old to make a snow angel
- Enjoying a slower day with dedicated rest and quality time with my husband.
- Not having a plan and being spontaneous – a tough one for this perpetual planner.
The roads are dangerous, and we have been encouraged by local authorities to stay put due to the extreme weather. This is a gift of time and intentionality, which I am excited to enjoy.
❄️ How will you spend your next snow day? Even if you live in a tropical climate, you deserve days to truly rest, recharge and be still.
