    Hi Caroline,
Great article! Do you think a career counselor would work with a college student to help them get a summer job in their field or an internship? I realize career counselors aren’t cheap, but having work experience can dramatically increase the chances of a student getting a job when they graduate.
Would a career counselor take on helping somebody get placed in a seasonal or temporary work placement?

Sarah – there are some great coaches out there who specialize in the high school realm. Yes, I think it is great to start early with this age group to get them ready for college and preparing in advance to recognize their strengths and values. While career coaches don’t always help with actual placement (those are typically recruiters) they will help get candidates prepared so they can shine in interviews and networking situations. Every coach is different so it’s best to shop for what you need exactly. Best wishes and thanks for writing!

      Cheers,
      Caroline

Actually, in my last comment I meant “coach” and not “counselor” – sorry about that.
