Imposter Syndrome Isn’t a Disease

I get it, we all have moments of self-doubt that are daunting. It’s a normal response when we set very high standards.
Imposter Syndrome isn’t a condition or an affliction. It’s simply a thought, a feeling of uncertainty that will pass. Consider it an Imposter Experience.
Doubting yourself doesn’t mean you will fail – it means you are facing a new challenge and it’s an opportunity to learn.
- The doubt or second-guessing is the precursor to growth and mastering something new.
- Don’t wait until you feel confident to start putting yourself out there. Courage comes from taking risks. Change your behavior first and allow your confidence to build.
Imposter Experience: I don’t know what I’m doing – it’s only a matter of time until everyone finds out.
Growth Mindset: I don’t know what I’m doing YET. It’s only a matter of time until I figure it out.
The highest form of self-confidence is believing in your ability to learn and grow.
