The Eclipse Effect: The Power of Letting Go
Last August, I was mesmerized, along with the rest of the country, by “The Great American Eclipse.” This summer, our planet is experiencing an intense eclipse season once again with three eclipses within the course of a one-month span – an historic event since this will happen only six times over a five-century period (spanning from the year 1801 to 2300.)
I must admit, I don’t know that much about astrology, so I wondered how all of this eclipse activity might affect us earthlings here on the ground. In my sleuthing, I discovered Molly Gauthier’s blog, which confirms the idea that – as there is eclipse action above, so there can be eclipse action that plays out in our lives below.
According to her website, Molly’s Astrology, Gauthier says the energy of an eclipse, particularly a lunar eclipse like the one our planet experiences on July 27th, helps us make decisions and let go of people, situations and habits that no longer serve us. Further astrological research clarifies that these celestial events bring with them the opportunity to “clean house” letting go of things large and small, such as:
- Old childhood wounds
- Relationships that have run their course
- Smoking and other addictions
Eclipse time is also a good time to literally clean house and get rid of the overabundance of useless “stuff” hiding away in the basement or attic.
So with all this in mind, I ask you…is there anything you’d like to change or “eclipse” from your life? Jobs or careers might be ripe for the changing, or maybe viewpoints about your own self-worth or the worth of others needs a clean slate. Whatever areas of your life that are in need of pruning – know that you’ve got the “tail wind” to do it.
Regardless of how the sun and moon are moving around in the sky this summer, I encourage you to take some time to do an inventory of what’s working and what’s not at this juncture of your life. There’s no doubt that change can be hard and, at times, really painful, but, if it’s fostering forward movement and growth, it’s so worth it in the long run.
