What Would You Do If You Weren’t Afraid?

As a leadership and company culture speaker and an executive coach in the trenches with professionals around the world, I often see people get stuck because they believe they need to be perfectly ready to move forward.
Brave, Not Perfect
One of my favorite phrases is, “Courage is fear walking.” It’s time to give yourself permission to move forward, even with a small step to be brave and surrender the notion that perfection exists.
If the thought failure is stopping you, acknowledge that this is an opportunity for growth and learning. Some of the best lessons and outcomes happen after failure.
Focus on the bigger picture and the positive outcomes that can result from overcoming your fears by taking a single step forward.
Consider what you would do if fear was not in your way.
Would you…
- Write your book.
- Start an entrepreneurial venture or pivot to a new career.
- Pursue a new credential or degree.
- Run for elected office.
For years my speaking and coaching business was a side hustle that made a me a weekend warrior using precious off-work time to pursue my dream. I was stuck in my head about when I would be “ready” to take the plunge to be a full-time entrepreneur and in 2022 I took the leap.
It was the best decision I ever made, and I’ve never looked back. Is it an easy and idyllic road – no, but it’s the road I am meant to be on, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I am confident I’ll never be perfect, and that’s OK, but I will always be brave!
How will you brave up and take a single step forward towards something you fear?
Let’s connect—because we all benefit when people thrive in life and career at the same time.
